A wide Yorkshire Dales landscape — drystone walls winding through ochre fields toward distant teal hills, with orange poppies in the foreground.

In the studio
The process.
Each piece moves through four slow stages — from first study to final signed surface.

01 — First marks
Every piece begins with thumbnail sketches and colour notes. I work out the rhythm of the composition long before any paint touches canvas.

02 — Building texture
Layers of palette-knife paint go down first — heavy, gestural and unapologetic. The under-layers carry the whole piece.

03 — Colour conversations
Teal against coral. Ochre against blush. I let colours argue with each other until they settle into something honest.

04 — The final breath
Final touches are made with a loaded brush — quick, considered, alive. The piece rests for two weeks before it leaves the studio.
